Y'all! This is my first ever post! I'm definitely new to this, however I felt that other's may be interested in what we've got going on over here. I wanted somewhere I could keep friends and family up to date with our "homestead" as well as give some inspiration along the way. So where better to start than at the beginning?

We sold our home, a true log home with wrap around porch July 13, 2021, and bought 11 overgrown acres.

Why? Because we wanted more land. A little farm. A homestead. A slightly larger farmhouse, as the kids really needed their own space. We only had 3 acres, 3 slopping acres that we really couldn't do much with and even the kids playing ball wasn't ideal between the slope of the land and how busy the road was. So, we sold it with the plans of building our dream home on the land we purchased. The property however was a little rough.

We then set to work clearing it out. It was a family affair...the kids were just as excited to see what it would become as we were!

While slowly picking away at our property, we parked our camper at some really good friend's. They were absolutely amazing! From allowing us to stay there for a couple months to pitching in and helping us clear the land. I truly don't believe we'd have gotten anywhere close to where the property is now without them! And their cows were so much fun! It's pretty entertaining to walk out your front door and have a beautiful, fluffy cow standing there!

..... Easily distracted by cows .....

Anyway! With the help we had, we were finally able to see what our land actually looked like...

And finally, November 1, 2021, we were able to bring our camper home!

We were SO excited to actually be doing our dream! I mean a family of 7, with 2 gigantic dogs and a cat in a 234 sq ft space was anything but ideal, but it would be so worth it in the end! We had planned on only being in the camper for 6 months to a year, but as with everything, things kept coming up. It took us almost two years and two different companies just to get our house plans drawn up. Unfortunately, the first gentleman took our deposit then ghosted us. BUT we were finally back on track!

Yep, back on track. Until ... we weren't.

Life has a funny way of reminding you what it is you need, what's actually important, and how truly fragile life is.

Sometimes what you want, isn't what you need. It's all in God's hands. All in His time. Any home can be a dream home. It took a medical emergency for us to really let that sink in. But I thank God every day that my husband is still here with us. My kids still have their daddy. I still have my husband. Our dream just looks a little different now. And that is okay.
